Default NEW!!! Dovo Bismark 13/16+ (shave ready), awesome razor!!

So!, now that Movember auctions are over, I will resume my sporadic offers! and for a kick off I bring you NEW Dovo Bismark 2 shave ready.. these are sold as a 6/8 but if you measure it you’ll see it’s well passing 13/16.. never used and sent to re-hone to the factory, obviously the etching is intact from factory. It has also being sent back to the factory for a professional honing (yes, new and untested), so I decided not to touch up in the hones OR strop. So you can experience the professional service edge from Dovo factory. All I can say is that It feels sharp enough an it does pop hairs in the air. So it seems sharp enough too, but yet again , I have not tested so it remains new.

Read the paragraphs in the bottom of this post (after the pictures) if you want to know about the story of this specific razor and why it’s being sold, unused, and with no box (that's why it's $40 cheaper than the lowest market price out there), and what’s to be learned from this at the end.. it is an interesting story if you can spare 2or 3 mins

Will ship to almost any country using EMS for expedite delivery (about 10 business days from shipping date to deliver at your country customs office). But no worries, EMS to the US is only: $15!! (please ping me to ask about EMS shipping price to other countries). Will do my best to ship the next day after payment but else, no more than 3 business days. Payment is expected within 24 hours after commit to buy the razor in this thread.

Note: If you really can’t or don’t want to pay for EMS shipping, I can ship with untracked mail and a sloooow option for 5$ WW, but that would be under buyers responsibility.

    Price: $120

This superb razor has been waiting to posted almost 3 weeks to avoid interference with the Movember auctions, but it is finally here for you! It belongs to a friend here is the story:

He was all excited about getting into SR shaving after we had our first conversation on this topic about 5-6 months ago.

He bought this razor after we checked some new razors options online and after I convinced to at least not buying 300$ razor to start with as was his initial plan. I had advised him to just purchase a vintage razor of a lower price but good quality (I could give him an "almost gift" price) until he got used to shaving with an SR and decide if he liked it. I also explained he needed to get a feel of what this was all about before he committed to expensive options… but he said his brother could buy it directly in Germany (he’s studying there) and send it to him down here to Costa Rica. So this was the lowest prices option he wanted to go as he was looking for a great looking razor, and only the this one, the Boker Arbolito, the Bergister Lowe or the Dovo Flowing were catching his eyes.

So the razor arrived to his brother’s hands with a certificate of a free expert honing form the factory, knowing this, my friend, and thinking he might never use the certificate if the razor was shipped all the way here, he decides to ask his brother to send the razor for a professional factory honing (yep.. I know …)

At that point, my friend almost desperate to try shaving already, asks me if in the meantime I can sell him a vintage one… I actually told him that before putting more money on this, he should better try first and I can just lend him one of mine… and gave him one of my imps freshly honed.

And there he goes with wicked sharp red imp 132 Morris (yup, not even a hollow ground) super happy and saying this one is so cute that he will buy one sometime… and here I stayed after telling him he needed to make sure about the angle, see videos, prep well with much hot water etc etc etc…

    ... … …

Two days later comes back the kid, looking like he had a fight with a cat… a TOMcat… saying he’s scared to dead of this imp, a real imp he says … and he does not want to try it again EVER.

Well… to be bluntly honest and truth, it was only ONE small scratch, one single red hairline scratch in the chick of about 2 cm long... Not even worthy of the styptic pencil!!! The third movement he did his and he got a scratch and decided to finish the shave with his Mach 3 as he decided he will NOT go any further on this madness or a straight razor moving this close to his neck!!!...

Nope, I remained quiet biting my tongue for not saying “I TOLD YOU!!!!”, and just told him maybe he can try a couple more times.. he could get use to it.. it’s a matter of practice… well… Nope.. he won’t listen.

So by the time the Bismarck finally arrived, I was already committed to sell it for him IF he let me share the story in this forum, without revealing his name (yeah he will be reading it, so I’m still giving him a hard time ). Of course I would have bought it for myself, if it wasn’t because I already have two (this same model and the one with the red old fashioned scales)

About the box? Very unfortunate and to make things worse he lost it the very same day!... yup… He received 4 other packages that day and as he normally does (he says) he opened every package and review the contents are in goo shape right there in the post office. Checks the great looking razor among other nice stuff and moves all the items to one of the boxes and throw the rest of the packaging and boxes into the Post office recycling garbage cans… and there it goes home not realizing until it was too late that his new Bismarck razor box was on it’s way to be transformed into who knows if an eggs tray, a news paper, or maybe some toilet paper?
I was going to sell it for the full price with box.. but now you know why this is new and in this super low price, new but no box..

    SO, at the end…..

Why did I take the time to write this? Well because we see a lot of times the mentors o this forum advising and guiding the new members to start with an lower price vintage razor of good quality and honed by a known seller OR if they MUST have a new one, then make it one of the entry level from one of the Stores that have respectable honemeisters and that will hone your razor before shipping it to you…

And very often those new members want to go for the “prettiest”or “fanciest” most expensive one, thinking this will be the only razor they will have. And hence this should be THE ONE…

Well, I’m not trying to discourage you from buying a nice razor, I mean I’m actually selling this one and I want someone t buy it, but please.. make sure you can afford your shaving stuff without compromising budget for more important stuff in live, and listen to your mentors!!!! When they tell you which razor, or strop or stone to buy, or at least to try couple of things first, they KNOW what they are talking about!! they are NOT trying to slow you down.. they are trying to keep you from making mistakes many of us have made already!!

There will be time for more growing in this hobby ALWAYS! And there will always be more razors you can buy, but first steps are important and you don’t need a super expensive razor for that… it is more important that you feel comfortable with using that razor and grow on your technique first.. the rest will come, eventually, it always does!
