Thanks fellas. Yeah I've been doing my reading on cleaning gold wash, gentle hand indeed. Thanks again. I was hoping to get to it tonight but may have to wait till I'm home from shift on mon.

Cover that etch with scotch tape, trace it with a fine point pen or marker. Then cut it out with a sharp Olfa knife or scissors and put it back over the etch. Then you can go at it with your metal polish.

Instead of tracing with a marker, you can trace (cut) it with an olfa knife right on the blade, but you run the risk of cutting a scratch into the blade face. You just need a delicate touch.

Perhaps you may go back to the basics of shaving with a straight before the honing bit, MikeT!

You are NOT supposed to cut yerself!

Dang it Tom! But chicks dig scars right?
One day I'm gonna show up on your doorstep with my Norton's, 2 dozen blades, a long beard, a pair of pliers, and a blowtorch! We'll figure this out.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys, much appreciated.
I've had some good success and then a strange blade that will not cooperate.. and then another blade that is so so.. and that's the pattern.

Pretty much how it goes, MikeT! It is always hit and miss for a good long time. You have to get a bunch under your belt and figure out what it takes to get them going and add the wrinkles to the brain.

Took me a fair amount of time. I learned more from Lynns video than anything else before I joined the forum. Still a relative pyramid fiend as well.....

I don't use excessive magnification, while lots will testify it helps. I like to hone by feel and light magnification. I never look at one after the bevel-set. Just me.

I still have problems on occasion. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not being honest.

Of course you are welcome most any time, Brother! Leave the blowtorch at home, though.
    We shan't need THAT!

That Boker I just cleaned up, I have about a 5mm section in the middle of the blade that's pulling, but the rest of the blade tops arm hair...... HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN!!!! Even after the shave test I can feel it. Back to the stones..
