Tried another one of Ray's samples today.

Oleo Empire - Canard

The first thing I noticed when I snurdled it out of the container was how hard and dense it was.

Put two bean sized chunks in the suribachi Bowl and commenced.

The lather whipped up and took a little coaxing.
It was a rich, dense and shiny lather that wasn't fluffy at all.
The slickness and glide was good, the cushion, not so much.

The shave was comfortable, but the soap left my face with a little drier feeling than normal.

At the end, I noticed that there were still two small un-dissolved chunks of soap in the bowl.

The scent was cologne based very close to D.R. Harris Windsor and Castle Forbes 1445.
Personally, I'm not usually a cologne guy, but this is the exception. I love this scent.

To give this soap a proper assessment, I think you need a full sized tub of it and need to bloom the soap with hot water and load the brush off of the puck after it softens up.

I’ve purchased three Oleo’s so far. I’ve used two regularly, one I had to give away because it burned my face.

You are 100% right, you need to really work the soap for it to completely dissipate if bowl lathering. Heat helps. And yeah, great glide, less cushion. I also agree it’s drying! But considering how oily my face is, that’s a semi-good thing being thier balm works.

The scents on each were exceptional for what they were going for.

Great review, I’m glad I read it! I’m going to always have thier Rougere, but I think that’s we’re it’ll end.

The Empire scent is supposed to be reminiscent of the Christian Dior Sauvage ETD.

My notes on Oleo Soapworks say the slickness, both primary and residual, are outstanding. When properly hydrated with the right amount of water, the cushion is excellent, but not outstanding. I do like the post shave feel of the Canard base , but to each his own.

Just tried this one today. Performance is very good and I liked the fact that the soap is a bit harder, but the scent is too strong and floral for this household. My wife was 15 feet from the bathroom when I shaved and thought it was too strong from there. I liked the scent while I was shaving, but I'm not very fond of the post shave scent at all.

Just for grins, I picked up a bottle of Primitive Man EDT from my local discount store. It is a cheap (and I do mean cheap) knockoff of Dior Sauvage. When I first tried it, my wife hated it. If applied sparingly and allowed to dry down, the scent is not too bad, but it is not something I plan to use. Like Edison in his quest for an incandescent light bulb, some experiments just do not work out.

At least the Oleo Empire scent is not so strong as to be objectionable to my nose.

I read that some people have had a reaction to Frankie and Myrna, so I rubbed a little on my wrist. No reaction, but I'm not even going to try this one. Old lady purse is what I get.

That's hilarious. I'm not sure I know what an old lady purse smells like, but I'm sure it ain't pretty!

When I got burned with the Oleo, it didn't burn on my wrist oddly enough, but it burned on my upper lip like a champ all the same.

EDIT: I understand that everyone can have patches oh skin that are more sensitive than other patches, and they can be right beside each other.

Hence, my lower lip area could be my least sensitive area of skin, while my upper lip could be the most. Your challenge should you accept it, is to find that area that is sensitive. If you have one at all. And if you do, ideally it's not on your face.

You did not specify the part of the anatomy we should search. I know where my most sensitive area is and no razor is getting close.

It's not the razor that needs to touch it - it's the soap. And I'm sure worse has touched it.
