Default Inserting images in PM?

I can't figure out how to include a photo in a PM.

I have the photo .jpg file in the computer, but the only "Insert Photo" option listed
calls for a url.

Any help, please?

Paul

It's not a supported feature, Paul. Probably for storage considerations. I've always used e-mail for sending photos given this shortcoming.

I think if you save your pics to a site, you can do it.
I don't and seems we just send pics email as we can.
We can provide links within the forum and beyond?

The way I got around it was by uploading the pics to imgur and then emailing the link.

Unfortunately the software we use, vbulletin, does not have this function.

I've considered implementing it in the past, but ultimately I figured it's not worth it as it's a bunch of work to do it in the first place, then there is the long term maintenance and even more work in upgrades and migration.

As others pointed out the best option is to use either email or external hosting and post links to it.
In fact some people do that in forum posts, too, which is not ideal because over the years those external images disappear and the old threads become less meaningful. In a PM it's not too important because those are private communications and largely temporary without long term value like the public discussions.

Workaround: In a word, "attachments".
1. Create a new post.
2. Upload the image(s).
3. Copy the line(s).
4. Paste them into the PM.
5. Close the new-post window.
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.
