Default Best Way To Preserve FAt Boy After Shave

I have a very nice Gillette Fat Boy. After shaving I usually rinse it well in hot water and let it air dry. Every couple weeks I give it a good scrubbing in warm water (no soap) with a tooth brush. Is this enough to keep the razor in good condition for another 50 years or should I be doing more?

As long as the mechanism is working fine and the plating is intact a mild soap and soft toothbrush is all you should ever need. I clean mine like that every few months.

I've found that Scrubbing Bubbles works very well at keeping DE razors clean and shiny (also recommended by members of two other shaving fora).

I would suggest taking the blade out of the razor and shaking the extra water out of the razor, then letting it air dry. I agree with the rest of the suggestions

I think you are on the right track. Rinse it under hot water and I do and always did do it with the doors cracked a little to let the water wash out from under the blade. If you get it hot then it will dry quickly.

I have never done anything different from that except an occasional bath in scrubbing bubbles maybe once ever 6 months or so. I have had the same adjustable now since my dad gave it to me about 1969, so don't sweat it too much, just use it.

Mild soap, like Dr. Bronners, or any castille soap would do no damage. You could get a dust blower to remove any water particles trapped in any of the compartments of the FatBoy. The link is below. It works very well. Good luck.
