    Default First DE Shave!

Thanks to pixelfixed, I had my first DE shave last night. I used my 40s SS (notched) with a Lord Platinum blade. I definitely got some nicks along my throat, but I didn't mind. It was a great shave and I'll definitely be keeping my 40s SS in rotation along with my dad's Schick injector and my straights. I normally use a straight but some nights, I just want to do something different.

Many of us keep a DE or few in the rotation. Actually, I use my DE razors fairly frequently, I love them. Congrats on your first shave!

I use a DE when I dont have time for the straight shave. When I use a straight I like to take my time and just relax, with my DE's its more I need to shave and have to be at work in 15 min or I should shave but its 5am and I'm too tired for the straight.
No that pistol isn't the only thing under my kilt, but I can tell you both of them work just fine

    Hello, bamabubba:

You're doing just fine. Watch your angle and pressure, especially on the neck. I use my double edge razors frequently, especially during the week when my time is limited in the morning.

    Regards,

    Obie

Thanks to Obie, I've been shaving with DE's for a couple weeks, now. I love 'em! Absolutely fantastic shaves every time!

I am the very same way, I love my str8s but all to often there simple just is not enough time when I "need" to shave.

Congrats on the DE shave. I found that there are a multitude of possibilites of razor and blade combinatoins. You mentioned Lord blade, but you might try something like the Super-Max Super Platinum sometime. I found them and the Israeli Personna blades to be very sharp and smooth shaves. I used the former in a Merkur FUTUR yesterday with setting of 4 for first pass then 2 for second pass. Didn't need a third. No cuts, nicks nor weepers, but about the most close shave I have had or remember. The number of different blade makers really surprised me, so you will have some fun "trying" out different blade makers and their respective offerings to see what you really like.
