    Default Edwin Jagger 89BA11

    Ladies and gentlemen:

Edwin Jagger has a new version of the DE 89. This is the DE 89BA11, offered in two chrome textured handle models, barley and the octagonal. I assume the workmanship on it is impeccable as in all the Edwin Jagger razors. Apparently the shave head is a new design and different somewhat from the 2009 model. Just how different it is I don't know. Do you have this new Edwin Jagger? If so, how different is the shave head from that produced in 2009? Also, what are your general thoughts on it? Many thanks.

    Regards,

    Obie

    Hello, Ryan:

I don't have pictures. West Coast Shaving and the English Shaving Company carry it. I might add, the price is up.

    Regards,

    Obie

Just had a look and you're right, prices did go up a bit. Sounds like the main difference is they changed the balance to be heavier towards the head; whether or not they made any drastic changes to the head itself is beyond me. Hopefully these new models aren't so new that no one has any experience with them....

Yes, Ryan, Edwin Jagger seems to have shifted the balance, with the shave head being a touch heavier. Also the handle is textured differently. I am not sure if the shave head has been changed, as well. Somehow I can't see the reason for that. The shave head is a gem, so what more can you do it? By the way, as an aside, I have put the Edwin Jagger shave head on my little Merkur travel razor. Nice combination. Stay well.

    Regards,

    Obie
