    Default New Finds

    Gentlemen:

This past weekend, while visiting my daughter in Minnesota, I dropped in several antique stores. I found no straight razors of worth — those Minnesota boys clean out the antique stores. I did find three double edge razors, though, and upon my return home, cleaned them up and put them in the rack. They look good. I will use them for the next three shaves.

    The razors are:

    1. 1940s-era Gillette Super Speed.

    2. 1940s-era thick handle Gillette Tech.

    3. (1960s-era?) Weck. This is intriguing. From what I can determine, this is a Merkur-made razor. It carries the Merkur emblem on the tip of the handle. Does anyone know anything about the Weck? This is the first one I have seen. It's an open comb.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Obie

    Nice score Obie!

I've not heard of Weck. I'd be interested in seeing a picture if you have one?

    Hello, Stuart:

    Good to hear from you.

I don't have a picture of it. I found one, however, on a site called Impulse. Here is the link:
Who's life is it anyway? » Vintage Weck (Merkur?) Double Edged Safety Razor

I hope these folks don't mind. It's a good looking razor, and as short as the Merkur 34C, although not as hefty.

    Stay well.

    Obie
