Default Blades for an auto strop razor

    Hi all,

Is there anyone here that can tell me where I can purchase auto strop blades?
Are they still manufacturing them or do I have to use another type and modify it?

    Roger.

I think Feather makes a blade that may work with some of the different auto strop razors. Also NOS auto strop blades come up on the bay from time to time.

    Hello Roger

There is a company that still makes blades that will fit most autostrop razors however the blades are quite pricey and must be purchased in bulk. An easier method is to modify a standard SE blade.

This video by Dave Irving will show you how the tool he uses are called nippers and can be found at any hardware or hobby store for a couple bucks. but pliers will work just fine too.

Please be aware that some models of autostrop razors require that the blade have certain cutouts in order to fit. This requires additional modifying in order to get those to work and some find it more trouble than it is worth.

If your interested in learning more about SE razors Mr. Irving created a forum dedicated to them http://www.theoriginalsafety.com/

    Hope this helps

Feather makes SE blades (without any added spine) that fit Valet and Feather SE "self-stropping" razors. They have fancy cutouts in the middle of the blade, quite different from "regular" SE blades.
