BIRTHDAY SHAVE
Razor--Lakeside Cutlery Army/Navy. Grampa's razor.
Strop--Illinois 6454. Great-Grampa's strop.
Soap--Kirk's Castile green bar.
Brush--EverReady badger. Great-Uncle Noah's brush.
Mug--Coffee mug. Great-Grampa's
Aftershave--Alum block, Dickinson's witch hazel, and a generous splash of Aqua-Velva Ice Blue.
Today's shave marks the beginning of my 48th year of straight shaving and this is the razor that gave me my first shave. Grampa broke the tips of the scales by the hinge pin. For all I care they can stay that way as well as the patina. The damn thing still gives me a shave equal to any high dollar razor. You gents have a great evening. I'm going to sit down for a nice bourbon Coke. Look sharp and smell nice for the ladies.
