ok so i didnt tape it up i just stayed away from the edge and figured id sand the rest before i get it honed again but this is what i got so far after about an hour of sanding and then polished it...

Is it possible to just put some tape over the blade and sand down what I can without having to home it again? Then maybe in a few months sand the part I missed and rehone it?

Thank you everyone for the pointers. So as far as blunting the spike what does that mean? Is that something I have to take in to get re honed where they round off the edge or something? I havnt...
