You do have to watch it with the grinders. My 2x72 uses nice, long belts which greatly help keep the heat down. I also keep a bucket of cold water handy to dunk in as needed.

I make and sharpen knives using a 2x72 belt grinder (gives an awesome edge) but can't for the life of me imagine sharpening a straight using it. Way too aggressive and way too much heat for that...
