I tried the magic marker approach on a 1000 grit norton stone and noticed that the entire edge was being covered when I applied some pressure with my thumbs in the center of the blade...

Thank you for all the advice. I think it will be better if I try and learn how to hone vs sending it out. You know what they about the whole give a man a fish and teach him how to fish. I will try...
