Yes, you make lather and it stays warm, as does the brush. :)

To store soap, you could ask your friend to make you a smaller bowl and to make the scuttle so that the smaller soap holding bowl fits...

Think of a scuttle as 2 bowls, a small one inserted into a larger one. You can fill hot water in between the 2 bowls.
