Default Feedback on Castle Forbes water-based Pre-shave?

I'm a big pre-shave oil user. I prefer vegan soaps for lathering, so pre-shave oil gives me the fatty slickness of tallow under my vegan lather. I use it for every pass. But I am intrigued by Castle Forbes pre-shave "oil" that has no oil.

Anyone use this product and how does it compare to an oil?
    D-rings, not handles

From my point of view it works ok. It looks and smells like cream rinse. There are some guys here that use cream rinse as a pre shave. I generally use Noxema. I just can't justify more than one bottle of Castle Forbes, for the price difference I'd rathe use Noxema. It works every bit as good and costs less. It does have a fan following though.

Only pre-shave that actually does what's it supposed to do as far as I'm concerned.

From my experience, and I've tried a lot of pre-shave creams and oils, the CF doesn't gum up your brush, overly slick your hands up, interfere or something destroy the lather and ruin the scent.

The water soluble nature, really penetrates the beard, it's great for the skin - frankly, this is the only pre-shave that's stuck with me....YMMV.

    Gentlemen,

Before using Castle Forbes, starting some years, I had tested my way through a variety of pre-shave products, mostly oils, and found all to be inferior. The oils especially mucked up everything.

Castle Forbes pre-shave is water soluble, nice and clean, and it gives my ultra sensitive skin the proper protection it needs. Add that to a lineup of quality shave soaps and creams, I have the best of two worlds. If you have never used Castle Forbes pre-shave, you have my recommendation.

I’m really glad I read this. I ordered some unscented Castle Forges Pre Shave because it DID NOT have oil. Years ago I screwed up and bought some prevshave oil from AOS and it was just a mess.
