    Default

I have a grey coloured granite hone that I use as a bevel setter. It does a great job of setting a bevel when I use it with lots of slurry, but it isn't a high grit stone. I'm not sure if darker granite would be any different.

    Default Granite for honing

Granite isn't generally used as hone material as it's probably too coarse grained. That being said, try it and see what happens. I have lots of granite surface plates so if this works out, I'll be very interested to hear about it.
