Just now getting a chance to use the stone after a super busy week. While also getting an awesome la dressante coticule in the mail, lol. I shave only with thier-sissard hard steel so i'll report back soon.

Had the chance to shave with it and couldn't discern the difference between the edge off this stone and an edge off of my la dressante coticule (both smooth and keen), except for the edge off this stone left me with more sting of the alum block and irritation. I'll be sticking with my coticules.

    and more cuts/weepers

With that said, it has a very pleasant, somewhat waxy glassy feedback.

I received the stone and was able to put two razors on it. There is definitely a difference between a natural and synthetic regarding the feel and sound of the razor on the stone. I really did enjoy the progression in both feel and sound as you go little by little from slurry to water only. A very pleasant experience for me.

Also, the size of the stone was not an issue whatsoever. Holding the stone in my hand was a nice change and it actually made me hyper-focus on the honing process.

I was not able to put these blades to use but will report as soon as I get the chance.

Thanks again to Alex for you generosity!!

Apologies to anyone next in line for this stone. Family health had me out of town for longer than expected. The stone will be in the mail to Alex Monday.

I was able to use the honed razors a couple of times. I used two 6/8 Wacker razors for comparison. One finished on the Uchigumori and the other on the G20K. Using the same soap, GD Angel, I shaved the right side of my face with one and the left with the other razor. Both provided a super smooth, irritation free shave. No weepers from either razor. The main difference I noticed was the Uchigumori not as keen when shaving ATG. It took a bit more effort the get through the stubble than the razor off the the G20K. That said, the end products were nearly identical.

I fully understand that this could be due to my lack of understanding/skill using a natural. I wish I had been able to use my time more productively but its time to send it on its way. I will keep my eye open for a natural to pick up and play with as I really did enjoy the honing process much more on the Uchigumori than a synthetic.

Thanks again to Alex for allowing me to participate!

What did you think of the edge on Alex's razor?

Unfortunately, I never had a chance to use it.
