    Default Shave Times

When you’ve got a 9 to 5, do you shave before going to bed? Or do you shave in the morning.

A couple of shaves ago, last Saturday, I took my time shaving with my new Osma soap, and it had one of the best shaves I’ve ever had! It was amazing. Then this morning, way behind for work, I rushed the exact same shave and it was horrific! Horrific I tell you!

I like shaving in the morning because then not only can I bless everyone else with my lovely aftershaves, but also because it makes my face “radiate” (or so my wife says). But shaving at night is way more pleasurable because time isn’t a factor. It just sucks because I feel it’s waisted on my pillow. Moreover, I don’t bath at night so I have to soak my face with a hot washcloth which kind of sucks too.

Either way, after this morning, I’m seriously thinking evening shaves are the only way to go for me.

What’s your thing, or rather your take on it?

Always shave at night after a shower or on Sunday morning after a shower. Mostly a time thing plus i don't need to look good for the job i do and a shower is the best pre-shave treatment for me so it just works out best. (Not a fast facial hair grower either so there's really no 5 o clock shadow to worry about).

I don’t have a regular 9-5 job, but I shave in the evening. I like my mornings to be lounge time. I have more luck relaxing and enjoying an evening shave.

Same for me. Monday through Friday - PM shave. Sunday - AM for Church. Only Saturday shave would be if I'm going out, which ain't often.

Nighttime is the right time for me, for the same reasons you mentioned. I don’t see the point of doing this if I’m not enjoying it, and anything that gets in the way of the pleasure of it should be re-evaluated, imo. There is also the meditative value that I get from the process, not to mention the importance of not feeling rushed or distracted — at all — when I have a straight razor in my hand. (But that’s just me.)

I normally shave in the evening, before dinner. Gives me time to enjoy the process. Also, I shave every 48-72 hrs., not everyday. Seems that a little bit of stubble in between is more acceptable these days.

Mornings for me. Although i dont roll out of bed till 10am. Two cups of coffee then to the shower and shave. The wife says it takes me an hours but it more like 45 minutes when you count all the other things i do in the bathroom first thing in the morning.

I always shower and shave in the morning. I like feeling refreshed when walking out the door, and I don't like the to feel whiskers in the afternoon after shaving the night before. I tend to be an early morning person and don't mind getting up an hour or so early to enjoy a cup of coffee, read the morning paper, and enjoy a shave. My day tends to go well if it starts out well. If I am in a rush to get out the door, I use an SE rather than a straight, but that might only happen a couple of times a month.

I shave every morning for work, weekends, I don't bother.
Even taking my time, it doesn't take more than 15 minutes start to finish for a 3 pass shave. (feeding the 5 cats seems to take longer)

If I want to be presentable during daylight hours I will shave in the morning. I do a touch up if we go out in the evening. Otherwise it is late evening/early morning.
