Default Son made an aluminum Badger hair brush

My youngest son was bored on a snow day from work a few weeks ago so he decided to melt down some aluminum scrap in his forge, and turn it down to a nice shave brush handle on his Southbend lathe. Took a boring bar to the knot cavity on his Bridgeport mill. Turned out pretty nice and much more fitting for him, a metal worker, than the wood ones I turn. Here's some shots of the scrap sitting on top of the forge, the finished handle and the finished brush.

Great work! Is he a straight shaver or did he make it thinking of you?

Wish I had a shop and power tools to be "bored" with like that! I doubt the results would be as nice though.

Your son does extremely nice work, Adam. The brush has a lot of style, and it looks like a quality 2-band knot.

Sorry for the late reply - yes, he is a straight razor shaver for a number of years. I do all the honing but two of my three sons are straight razor shavers and the oldest swears by a DE.
