I only found them as well when it comes to razors and strops, i have notice there is not a big market for old method shaving in South Africa, only the good stuff is overseas (as always).

But can help you with soaps and cream and brushes......

Official Online Store | Crabtree & Evelyn

Metropolitain Cosmetics : all the finest brands, all in one place. Skincare,*Cosmetics, Makeup, Fragrance &*Perfume

Men's - The Body Shop South Africa

Shaving Brushes & Soaps - Grooming

Hyde Park Corner - Store Information

some of these shop sells more stuff then what they are displaying on the website.

Clicks and Dischem also have stuff for good prices like the Tabac Brands.

Try Ebay as well, im not always keen to buy there, but you do get refunded when a package does not arrive.

    Hi There

No luck on the honing so far, I did not make any contact so far with someone that can do pro honing. I think the best option is just to but some Norton stone, which will cost close to R3000 for 1000,4000 & 8000 grit.

I still need to buy stuff to restore my razors before I can think to hone, but did not get much time so far.

Hi SVMAD, I have been going since July now with about 70 shaves already between 4 razors I have collected. So far I'm real happy with the results and there's no going back for me.
I bought myself a set of Norton hones which I have used to restore 2 old razors and hone my new dovo, with some practise have had good results doing this.
I also bought a Zulu Grey finishing stone from MichaelC as well as a Kropp razor which he honed for me, both good investments!
After I got the hang of my razors I find that they hardly need any honing, my strop does a good job of keeping them keen.
If you want pro honing ask MichaelC, he's in kzn, else I'm willing to assist as well, I've had good results so far.
    What razors do you have?

    Thanks guys.

    Appreciate the advice

Have a W&B, then unknown hollow ground and then also a Dixie barber. All three are very smooth shavers!

    Where are you guys located?

Hi Riaan, I have been shaving with a straight for the past 12 months with a Dovo, TI as well as a Feather (disposable) I have a Zulu Grey finishing stone and want to add a Norton 4000/8000. Did you investigate possibilities of sourcing the Norton local before going the import route ?

I live in Gauteng, East Rand and work in Jhb central.

Hi, here is a local website Blades & Fantasies. We supply fantasy items, handmade swords, handmade knifes and a huge range of brand products like Lord of the Rings, Colt, United Cutlery, Lansky and other functional, fantasy or art knives and swords. Our fantasy items include pe, i did not contact them as yet, did not get around to buy them. I have been enjoying my Murker double edge razor so far.

If i may ask, what did you pay for the Zulu Grey?

where in the East Rand do you stay? I am in Alberton.

Hi, the Zulu was about R1,200 without postage and and another R200 for a lapping stone. I live in Sunward park, Boksburg.
