Not long had a nice shave, probably an hour or so ago and it feels better than any shave previous. One of the biggest changes was the blade in my shavette, changed from Derby and tried an Israeli blade which I purchased from a local supermarket.

I was totally blown away at how superior the Israeli blade is compared to the Derby, as the new blade just glides beautifully over the skin and stubble. It makes shaving the chin a far easier proposition as the Derby blades tend to tug and pull on that area making it difficult to shave.

There was one other thing that was different about this shave today and unsure if it made much of a difference to the overall feel and appeal of the latest shave. The use of my own 'hot towel' in pre-shave preparation before using an oil and then shave soap.

This just felt like 'me time' without any distractions - everything else stopped for the duration.

My wife is picking up some other blades for me to try out at my request and her money! It's so strange, because up until a couple weeks ago, I've only ever shaved with a Gillette safety razor like mach3, fusion or whatever was the latest at the time. Now I find myself experimenting with different blades and approaches to shaving.

Just wondering if we had internet readily available 25 years ago, would we all be straight razor shaving now and the likes of cartridge based safety razors a thing of the past? Because I remember as a kid, my father always used to have bits of bogroll stuck to his face to blot the bleeding cuts on his face. Now even he is thinking of going back to DE shaving.
