Thanked: 26I shave left-handed, only. Most of the time the razor is out straight like a kamisori, and I'm holding it like a pencil. Works fine for me, possibly because my work has resulted in a lot of finger dexterity.
I strop after shaving, to dry it off and get it ready for the next day.Last edited by mdarnton; 04-08-2013 at 01:53 AM.

“Eureka” you are right onimaru55
it was DOVO. I was not to sure about this as I do blacksmithing on the side with a lot of other side lines. The resting did not make much sense to me. But hey I have seen things blacksmiths better than I do what I would have thought impossible. It only goes to show I don’t know as much as I wish I did. Thank you for clearing this up and educating me on this, I knew I read it somewhere & was starting to feel real stupid that no one else had heard this before or at least was not saying.
From everyone’s comments about the hand to use. I surmise that this is nothing more than a personal preference. About the only things I can not do well with both hands is writing and swing a hammer. These two things are best done with my right hand.
I do find that when it comes to coordination such as Drawing, Shooting etc. I am just as good with the left hand.
With this question answered I suppose that right and left hand will be the way I will keep going. I didn’t see any disadvantage to doing it, and with this much time invested it would seem useless for me to try to retrain myself to use only 1 hand with out any noticeable benefit.
I guess it goes back to if it is not broke don’t fix it.

Thanks for the search tip, I am new to forums as well as straights. I feel pretty stupid now for not just doing the search.
I guess the wife will be relived when she hears she doesn't need to make little sheets and pillows for my razor after all.
