    I'm getting pretty decent shaves off a razor that cost me roughly 15 dollars posted, is 15/16 in width, and was made in solingen quite some years ago and the scales have yet to crack =]

    That makes sense. I guess I was trying to say, no matter what tool you are using each will most likely be different and you can't throw, strop, shave, etc. the same from one to another. You have to judge it then adjust accordingly. I can see someone learning bad habits on a heavy scaled razor, especially if it's their first and take those habits to a different razor. Every time I get a new razor, I notice they strop/shave differently and I have to slow down and learn that razor.
