    Default Stropping Technique

    Hey All,
I've been happily stropping away for 7 weeks now and this morning I noticed something in my technique and now I'm wondering how big of a deal its been.

I've got my hanging strop and what I notice is that I sometimes let my right hand get slightly below the strop which means when I roll the spine over, the point is slightly off the strop while the rest of the spine keeps in contact with the strop. I've been slightly turning my strop to make up for this flaw. As I begin the motion, I correct and get the entire blade back on the strop again. But its the moment where where I roll the spine that has me concerned.

As someone being new, I never thought much about this until now (as I read and gather more info) and I will slow down and make the correction. Do you think I did any dulling to the point of the razor over the course of the last two weeks? That's when I got my newly honed razor back. Thoughts?

I have found angling the strop help me with that.

I noticed that I was not touching the strop with the blade edge in the middle. I tried holding the strop on a bit more of an upward angle and also a sideways angle, seems to touch the whole edge now, but I am still learning.

Read this thread: http://straightrazorpalace.com/strop...-question.html. I found this very helpful. Stropping was perhaps the most difficult of the straight shaving skills for me to pick up (shaving, honing, stropping).

Straight razor shaver and loving it!
