    Default First Shave done and not a nick in sight

    Hi all,

    following on from my introduction thread of last week i have now stropped the new apparantly shave ready razor and completed my first shave today on my day off as I had lots of time to spare.

    I also used my new "new type" Prorazo red shaving cream and it is amazing would have to say it is better than my TOBS sandlewood that i've used with my old cartridge razor for years, so moisterising it is untrue.

    The shave is not the closest but is as close as one with my cartridge razor, I would say. Had a slight bit of burn on a bit of my neck after, so out with the Alum block and it was gone. Have to say I did leave my under the nose bit till i'm a little more comfortable using the blade.

    Bloodless first shaves do happen, but they seem to be pretty rare around these parts hehe

    Congrats.

    Today I had a first: I approached my brush to start a lather and noticed my neck was bleeding. I have done a few things, but I have never had blood before even touching the razor.

    Oddly, by the second pass it had stopped.

    Still have no idea why I just started bleeding...

    Be careful with that confidence brother! I got through my first few shaves without drawing any blood. ...Then I got cocky. Not even cocky really, just more confident and, naturally, faster. That's when the blood started to flow. Put me back in my place for sure. Slowed me back down a bit and got back to more deliberate strokes.

    Straight Shaving Rule #1: Respect the razor.
    Straight Shaving Rule #2: Respect the razor.
    Straight Shaving Rule #3: Respect the razor.

    Even if you abide by all those rules, you're gonna bleed sooner or later. That much is guaranteed. But when you do you won't mind because you'll have done it while doing something awesome and fun!
