    Default replacing my dovo shavette

    Hi guys
So i been straight razor shaving for 2-3 years now but I started with the dovo shavette. I want to get an actual razor but i been using this too long that i cant seem to get a grip.on a few. Do you guys have any suggestions on something light weight like the shavette to kinda graduate to

I'd recommend the new folding Feather SS. They cost roughly $100 (just guessing), use Feather blades and provide the closest yet comfortable shave I can get. I like conventional straights more, but for shaving quality the Feather SS cannot be beat. I've had the blades go over 40 shaves. If I had to be limited to one razor, the Feather SS would be the one, hands down.

If you want to keep the size and weight similar, any 5/8 hollow ground razor will do. Dovo has quite a few to choose from, as well as Theirs Issard and Boker, if you are looking for something new.

Yes, they're the same as the Dovo Shavette in principle and function. In my opinion, the Feather SS is the BMW of razors with replaceable blades. They're easy and comfortable to use and give GREAT shaves with very little discomfort. They are a worthwhile stop up from the Shavette. I know because I started all this with a Shavette.

Shavette blades are equivalents to the sharpest DE blades. Both are sharper than the edge of a straight. Mapping the face is the same for both, but the blade angle will be significantly different from a straight. From my DE experience I would guess a shavette would be held close to parallel with the skin. A 20 degree angle on a DE would peel your face off. If you get the knack of a shavette, it is easier to cut hair with them so they are seen as starter razors for straights. I personally would recommend learning to shave with an SE or DE and then go to a straight.
The tale is doon, and God save al the rowte!
