    Yea I understand what you are saying about having a comparison and I really do appreciate all the advice. The new razor that I am getting from Lynn I believe will be shave ready so I will use that as my barometer.

    I don't find it hard to believe you got a good edge the first time. I've been a violin maker for 30 years, and straight razors are the easiest tools to sharpen that I've ever worked with. Just don't make a few fatal mistakes along the way, and it will come out right every time. There's way too much voodoo around the topic on razor forums.
