Thread: Worth it for a beardo? Suggestions?

I also keep beards. I have found that edging is a lot easier with a straight razor, and on the plus side if I want to do a major change (full beard to goatee) I have no need of a trimmer anymore as I can mow it down in one pass.

Yes it is worth it

after lurking for a few weeks now, the best recommendation I have come down to is if you have money to burn, buy brand new gear from Straightrazordesigns or one of the other recommended sellers from here,
if you a poor ol soul like most of us, go with an old battered and bruised blade from whippeddog.com (they have beginner kits for around $80) or find a used "beginner" kit in the classifieds that somebody wants to offload for a price your OK with
that way A) you have a blade with some history to it even if you don't know what that history is and B) your out of pocket for less than the price of a NEW straight razor alone

I had a beard when I started all of 3 weeks ago. Suffice it to say the beard came off and I look forward to my daily shaves.

Your reason for the beard may be different to mine, cartridge razors tore my face and neck up, but it's gone and I like the clean look.

I picked up a few vintage razors from an antique shop and sent them to be honed. Total for both razors being shave ready £30.

I have another few to send off but don't have the funds right now.

Such a great community! I hope one day I will have some razors I can also gift to people to see if they are interested!
