    Default getting started

I'm just getting started with straight razor shaving in hopes that its better for the irratation i get on my neck from other razors. I was just wondering if I could get a little help on what kind of razor to try starting out with (wedge, 1/4 hollow ect.)

A lot of advice for people starting out depends if you want new or vintage, the latter being cheaper. If new, a Dovo Best Quality 5/8 or 6/8 which is a full hollow I think (the BQ are the cheaper razors to start with but still a good razor). That's how I started but now have two vintage razors as well and I think they are full hollow as well. They give off more sound as you shave. From what I've read on here, not experience, as you move to a full wedge, there's less audible feedback.

Moving from a fusion cartridge to a straight has worked wonders on neck irration for me, I just regret not starting earlier.

Larry over at whippeddog does sight unseen deals which, while not great to look at, apparently shave well, again from what I've read on here. Then there's also the classifieds here which will be shave ready.
