Default Someone that can hone a razor around lakewood WA

I just picked up a razor that needs to be made shave ready, and I don't have the knowledge or the equipment to do it yet. I was hoping there was someone in the area of Lakewood or Tacoma washington that could look at the razor, and get it shave ready.

    Thanks for any help.

You find anyone? I bought a razor at Excalibur at the mall, they told me it was shave ready and it wasn't I took it back to them to sharpen it for $10. It took them about 2 weeks and they told me a week initially, maybe I was expecting too much but it came back to me pretty much as sharp as I made it myself with my stone. I spent $100 on a Dovo razor and I can't shave without it pulling and tugging.

I'm in Lakewood too and I haven't been able to find anyone to sharpen it or mentor me so I can do it myself.

Eric & Sarge. I'm not up quite that far, but did my 386th blade earlier this wk. 'Bout $3.50 for a bubblepack mailer & postage. Cover that cost to get it back to you & honing costs nothing. Let me clarify: honing is free - not restoration - which most fleabay/antique store blade need. For these, I recommend getting help from a pro under vendor services.

Sarge - my first razor was from Excalibur also. It actually was a nice razor, but like you found - the edge was far from ready. I sent one to the honorable gssixgunner for some love, and was glad I did.

I also have guys over sometimes for shaving or honing sessions. Bring blades, stones. Let me know if you're interested. 'Always feels great helping someone fall in love w/ their shaves.

I appreciate that, I'm looking for another good cheap razor so I can have a backup and I'll definitely get with you on that. Its brand new I've only had the razor for about 6 weeks, there's no damage to it, I've been working on honing it and it seems to be hit or miss whether or not its shave worthy.

And yeah I'd be interested in a get together, I've been enjoying myself learning and working on my technique.
