Default Tuesday, December 11th, Meet in SE Oklahoma

A new member, 1203jjt, better known as Kyle asked me if I would show him the ropes of honing and of course the answer was yes. Kyle is bringing a friend and I thought I would open this up a bit and invite anyone who can make it.

We are going to kick it off a little before lunch.

Come on down, up, over...just make it if you can & spread the word!

In short, a bust. One of the veteran members here made no promises to attend & I understood.

The other two were sore from jogging and cancelled on me the night before the meet was to take place. I first replied to him with a simple "ok", because I was pissed and didn't want to say something I shouldn't. People are so inconsiderate of others this day and age. I contacted him after he cancelled with this statement:
    Good Morning Kyle,
You know, I thought about this overnight before I replied with something other than an OK. My days are as important as anyone elses and I set aside my day for you and your friend & you cancel because you are sore. Really? You obviously don't understand or care how important time is to some. I just pray that someone doesn't do the same to you. If I have some others over and post about it on the forum, you are more than welcome to attend...however you and I will not reschedule.
    God Bless you and yours,
    Scott

Now get this, here is 1203jjt's reply:
Wow...first of all, I highly doubt that you're "praying" about/for me, and if you are, that's pretty creepy. Keep your religion to yourself.

Second, I was being considerate in letting you know as soon as I could that we wouldn't be making the 3 hour drive since my friend can barely walk. Perhaps you would have rather me not given you the advance notice that we weren't coming, and just left you waiting around all day today for us to show up? Get real. Life happens. Learn to deal with it without a "holier than thou" attitude

Please let me know if I was out of line anywhere. The "stuff" we go thru sometimes to try and help others out.

Funny, "before my holier than thou" attitude (which has only been about 3 years), I would have taken a trip to Tyler, TX to see just how lippy he really is without hesitation...

I'd say that sounds extremely rude on his part. If someone had set their day aside for me I'd have been sure to make it, sore or not.

I think maybe people don't see a personal appointment like that as being any different than a doctor appointment. They don't realize that setting a day aside is a lot bigger deal than just scratching a name off a list.

    The reply.... Just wow.

I don't know any of you all, it sucks to make plans and then have things change or people not show. They let you know the night before at least you were not left hanging at the designated time and place. Mad or not if those were PM's (Private Messages) you should not have made them PM's (Public Messages). I don't know what your religion is I am going to assume Christian of some sort, is it all about forgive and forget? I don't think it was nice to post what you did.

So you want to go there...

Yes, I am a Christian. Many who don't know what the heck they are talking about in regards to the Bible only know the "turn the other cheek" parts for their benefit, what about the parts where entire cities are destroyed, thousands destroyed at a time, and remember Noah? I can go on and on, but this is not the place. If you ever make it Stateside, I would love to have you over to further discuss my religious beliefs with you over a fresh pot of coffee.

Now, lets get to the root of it all. I work on call 24/5, so I am on "go" for five days a week & work an average of 55 hours during that time. If I get called on my "Friday" at 11:30pm and work 12hrs, that means that I am getting off 11:30 am on my "Saturday". My two days off are rather busy trying to tend to personal things like my wife, household, & do what I can to have a life outside of work. I set aside a weedend day for someone I don't even know and they have the audacity to get snippity with me because they broke their word. I do what I can to be kind and courteous to any and all around me, but don't kid yourself in thinking that a Christian is someone that can just tread upon. I am a firm believer in a man's word being his worth...

You are entitled to your opinion of me not being a nice guy & I accept that, there are a few who will state the opposite. Really, re-read my reply to him after he had cancelled. My goodness, I still offered to him to attend any SR meetings I would have, at my home...

In closing about the PM's, my conspiricy theory got to going is why I referenced this individual for any who try and check him out here. What if this has been happening to others and they didn't say anything? Look, he has no post count to build a "reputation". Could he have been "targeting" someone relatively close to do wrong in one way or another? Probably not, but who knows this day and time. I didn't & wouldn't post his phone number, last name, or IP address (yes, a "law enforcement" buddy of mine is good at that kind of computer stuff), but I do have it just in case. We, you and I, have to stand up for what is right...not turn the other cheek and let things escalate.

Shooter, I don't really see dustoff implying that you're a horrible person by any means. The way I see it and agree with him, is to not call someone out in the open forum and actually post their private messages and screen name. This could have been done "behind the scenes" or at the very least left anonymous.

Yeah I went there and yes you are right I could probably use some remedial Bible study. I did not mean any malice by what I wrote, Catrentshaving summed up my intent with his post above. If I ever make it your way or you ever make it out to the islands, I would be glad to share some Joe with you and talk religion and razors.

If you don't mind shoot me a PM you have peaked my interest as to what you do?
    Aloha,

    ED
