Default Need Help with Straight Razors for Boyfriends' Birthday

    Hello there!
My boyfriend has been talking non stop about wanting to start shaving with a straight razor. His birthday is coming up shortly and I really have no idea what to look for! So, my questions are:
What are the best beginners straight razors?
What do I absolutely HAVE to get in order for him to begin shaving as soon as he gets the razor?
What are the best sites/stores to purchase products from? (his birthday is mid December, so somewhere with a decent shipping time is a must)
If you have any suggestions they are very welcome!
    Thank you everyone!

I agree with tiddle. But I would like to emphasize the need for a good after shave balm and a styptic pencil. Also, an alum block would be very useful. Emphasize that he get as much information from the forum and its wiki resources as possible before he starts shaving.
The tale is doon, and God save al the rowte!

I found all of my razors in antique stores but having said that, one of the best places to get the best deal for your money is through
Whipped Dog Straight Razor Shaving Equipment

I bought one of the poor man strop kits and have been very satisfied with it. So satisfied that when my grandson starts shaving, that will be the place I get some of the things he will need. Hope this helps you in your search for the perfect gift for your boyfriend.

The razor purchased must be honed and you both need the patience to give him time to learn. Good luck! The advice provided so far looks pretty good. I'm going to recommend SRD because they have a very open minded honing policy.
