Big 'ol Adams apple... Now what.

Alright so I have shave a few times with my straight and have moved around my face, however I am very apprehensive about shaving around and over my adams apple as its a pretty good sized lump. Any suggestions on how to go about cleaning this behemoth wthout slicing myself up? If I dont figure it out soon I'll have a toothbrush mo on my throat.... which just seems wrong.

Yes, you can move the skin in front of the adam's apple over to the side with one hand and shave with the other.

Swallow! Swallow and hold the swallow. It moves the 'Adams apple' so you can shave there.

This is actually my biggest concern!!! I tend to nick my adams apple with a cartridge every time I shave. I have zero experience thus far with a straight, but mine should be in soon, and I'm actually rather frightened about shaving my adams apple. Glad I'm not alone, (thanks for the post OP), and thanks for the tips to those who replied to OP.

I also have a large Adam's apple and it is a very tough spot for me. Take your time and use very short strokes.

Yeah same here, I've sliced it so many dang times you'd think it would be hard as stone. For some reason I didn't think of pulling the skin to one side. When I read it I was like..... Duhhh. Anyway I'll be trying it out today so there may be pics of a bleeder. LOL

It's all in the tongue... Place your finger on your Adam's Apple for reference... With your mouth slightly open... Place the tip of your tongue on the back of your top teeth 'hard'... Nothing happens with your Adam's Apple... Now, place the tip of your tongue behind your bottom teeth and use that as a lever to push the 'back' of your tongue up against the roof/soft palate of your throat 'hard'... Your Adam's Apple should rise significantly... You can also put the tip of your tongue down under your lower teeth behind your jaw bone and it may give your better upward movement... You may feel some pressure in the back of your throat or nose as your tongue presses against the soft palate... Very much like a sustained swallow and you'll have to be holding your breath so a few passes with breaths in between.

Play with that as you draw your skin down or to one side or the other and you should be able to get it fairly comfortably.

If you were really devoted to straight razors you would just go and get adam's apple reduction surgery like the rest of us have...

Adam's apple reduction...wtf are you serious they have such a thing? LMBO.. I have been slowly chipping away at mine for years with cartridges this tounge thing works I stood in the mirror and moved my tounge all around, looking like an idot but it works. Thanks... Oh and Jimbo I gonna google it
