Default Anywhere to buy in UK?

Hey guys, I've been trying to choose between a Dovo Best Quality 5/8" and Boker King Cutter 5/8" and have decided to go for the Boker. Shipping from SRD to UK is $37 so $148 (or if I go for STR8 and strop set, shipping is higher so $193).

    1) Anyone know anywhere in the UK that would work out cheaper? Trying to keep the cost down a bit until I'm hooked and getting better at it. From what everyone says here on SRP, that won't take long haha
    2) When buying from SRD, has anyone had issues with UK customs? i.e. VAT

Already got the TOBS Jermyn Street Collection soap and a badger brush. Just need a strop and STR8. I see TOBS sell STR8 but don't know what make these are.

Also, if maybe only shaving 3 every other day, how often would it need to be honed? I would probably get someone more experienced to do that until I get to grips with stropping, technique, etc. i.e. send to an SRP member possibly.

Either of these guys are well trusted/respected. Don't sell Boker but they do sell Dovo, Thiers issard and shave ready vintage blades. also strops etc.

Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

I have had lots of experiance with customs. My last purchase from srd cost me an extra £57 in custom tax. Just the way it goes. You can get any dovo in uk easily enought, not sure about the broker . I'm guessing your just starting out?? so a good strop will no dout get damaged.. You need somthing cheap a good practise strop. How often you will need to hone razor depends on your beard thickness and good stroping. My mates razor is still going strong with stropping after a good thew months ..

That's what I was afraid of, heard they lowered the limit allowed

Yeah, just starting out, this is my first razor. Maybe the cheaper Dovo Best Quality would be better until I have good stropping technique, then upgrade the STR8 after that?
