Thread: 3" paddle strop

i just bought my first straight blade from the invisible edge
i also got the 3"paddle strop,my question is does it matter wich side i use as there two different colours of leather ,the descrition says " Both sides are of napped leather in the french style and can be used ‘as-is’ or with our diamond pastes"
i got some smurf poo diamond paste to go with it,i am pretty sure the leather is the same,but thought i would check first

It doesn't matter, I looked at it and one side is just dyed so that you don't confuse the sides if you put paste on both sides. They are both rough leather, and work well with the pastes, but I would honestly look for something smooth for stropping right before a shave, and use that one with pastes or sprays or whatever for touching up. The rough leather actually works nicely right before the smooth, but it's your face so I would leave atleast one side unpasted and see what you think about it pre-shave first.

I have the same strop, I use it when I'm traveling (without paste). I find that the two sides have a very different feel, much more draw on the darker side.
