    Default dull razor and lotion

So my honing is getting better, but still not good enough. The edge under a mag. Glass looks like a wavy saw. It cuts ok, but not good.
Today i added a quarter size dab of lotion to my canned shaving cream (i know, i dont have soap yet). It really made it better.

I just need to get the edge right and some soap.

I want to achieve a successful edge on my own and im gonna keep at it until i do.

Reading here i am picking up tips for honing and hope to get it figured out!

I think next time im gonna breadknife both knives and start over.
Nubo - When you have to track down someone to unlock the doggone display case to get to the disposable razor blades, something has gone terribly wrong.

I would suggest not doing this. If you are just getting started honing, breadknifing may be the worst thing to do. It's been my experience that bringing a breadknifed blade back is a HUGE PITA.

Then you actually have all you need, if you are truly determined to put a shaving edge on it.
You need to study the Library section on honing & the videos, also there is a thread on the 4/8 you can follow.
You can get a puck of Williams at Wal Mart for $2.00 & some glycerin for another $2.00.
Meanwhile keep with your current method of shaving , until you can get a comfortable shave from that 4/8 on the sides of your face, then you will know that you are making progress.

This is not something that you learn in a week, especially how to hone a razor. Look at it as a journey, not as a task with a deadline.
