Default Razors at the art of shaving

I have been forum stalking for a bit trying to get as much info as I can about starting to straight razor shave. I recently found out that the area I just moved back into has the art of shaving store near by. upon looking at their razors I was wondering if anyone had any first hand experience on them. I was looking at the dovo they sell but I am unwilling to drop money on it without knowing if it is a good starting razor or not. Sorry if I am posting something that has already been posted.

Keep in mind that a razor purchased at AOS will most likely need to be honed prior to use. If you do not know how to hone, plan on the cost of a professional honing too.

I have and use weekly my entry level DOVO (my first razor I bought some years ago), it shaves very well.

I got my Dovo from Straight Razor Designs; great price and it comes honed ready to shave. And as a plus, you will receive a coupon for a free honing. You can't go wrong with these guys. My Dovo was my first straight, and I use it daily. I bought the Dovo Best Quality 6/8, and I dig it

I purchased an entry level Dovo at an Art of Shaving store a year and a half ago. It shaved great right out of the box and needed no honing. This is unusual. To this day it still gives a bbs shave. If I were to buy another Dovo I would get it from Straight Razor Designs. It comes shave ready (honed by Lynn) with a coupon for a second honing. Good luck with your first straight and welcome to the party.
