Default Hi from Estonia + How to get started?

Hello and greetings from Estonia. Don't be embarrassed, if you don't know where it is, just look it up :P

I've been pondering trying out straight razor shaving for a while, practicing with a shavette and even picked up a few antiques, but...

The problem is, I don't really know where to find a shave ready razor "around here" or how to get the oldies into proper condition.

Are there any SRP members around Northern/Eastern Europe who could help me out with this?

    Thanks

    Hi, and welcome to SRP.

There are quite a few who does honing up here in Northern Europe, and Zephyr, out of Norway, does some fine restaurations too.

    Good luck

Tere tulemast! Ok, that's about the only Estonian I know!!
You've come to the right place for this 'hobby'. I don't personally know of any members around the Baltic region that sells or hones straights but there are a few reputable vendors I've dealt with in Europe. Assuming Estonia is in the EU (I'm ashamed to admit that I'm not sure if you guys are), they might be a good alternative as you don't have to pay exorbitant import duty. The ones that I've dealt with are invisible edge (UK), rasurpur (Germany) and 1barber (Belgium). All 3 have good quality products with different price brackets. I'm not sure 1barber sell shave ready razors though, never bought a razor from them, whilst Steve (invisible edge) and Martin (rasurpur) will put a 'wicked' Edge on any razor you buy from them,. They also both offer a honing service for any straight you send them. With regards to strops, Neil @ strop shop uk and Torolf @ Scrupleworks make great strops (I can personally vouch for Torolf).

Anyhow, SRP contains a wealth of knowledge (make sure to check out the wiki pages) and the mods/mentors are fantastic people to get advice from to get you on your way to the world of straight shaving.

    Regards from a fellow newbie,

Oh my bad, I completely forgot! There is my friend Mikael out of Sweden who might help you out if you drop him a PM

Off topic, but there was a girl, Victoria, from Estonia at my college (UMBC). She was gorgeous! Wish I have had the nerve to ask her out...
