My first razor was a new Dovo. Did it shave..yep..was it shave ready...nope. What I mean is yes it did cut the whiskers off my face but it was not comfortable by any means. Not until I did a bit of reading on these pages did I grasp the concept and got a truly shave ready edge put on my razor.
From that day forth it doesn't matter what razor I get it hits my hones before it even touches my face

I started shaving too with a brand new DOVO. It sure had a sharp edge, but it was definitely not shave ready. It gave me razor burns and not a smooth face.

So I sent my straights to Lynn for honing. He did an excellent job and from that moment on my shaving results improved like magic.

A well honed razor also gives you a point of reference. Once and for all you know what really sharp is.
