Thread: and now I need another strop...

Third shave, this time with my theirs issard. Went well except my "under the nose" nemesis. Stropping however has resulted in another trip to the online shop to get a replacement. I'm starting to think this hobby is not cheap I have a a new toy on order from this site, and am expecting one from classicedge anyday now (and another strop). This will put me at 4 razors...

Ahhh my friend... Sounds like you are getting a case of RAD and SAD,and there are more AD's to follow.Hang on tight and we will all get you through it .... LOL.

If you are buying multiple replacement strops because you are damaging them it may be time to take a look at your technique. It's pretty common for new straight razor shavers to inflict some minor damage to their strop, but if you are cutting yours severely enough to ruin them you should devote some time to figuring out why.

It was lack of concentration on my part... I turned to look at something and my arm turned a little bit and sliced into it...at least I know my razor is sharp or was sharp. I'm not going to strop after I shave from now on and I am going to get a paddle strop for practice.

I don't strop unless I'm all by myself and without distractions.

Still have my original bridal leather 3 inch strop from Classicedge but it has some battle scars that I have repaired and it is still going. Most aspects of shaving with a straight require unbroken concentration. Let your mind wander and you could pay for it in equipment ruined or stitches required. It is not rocket science but it will let you know in no uncertain terms if you messed up. Other than that it is easy but not cheap.
