    Default First Shave!

I just finished my first SR shave. I went slow and was met with immediate success upon starting on my right jaw area. It felt so good, I continued, slowly, to the left side and switched hands. After a bit of getting used to using my non dominant hand, I was able to see a good result.

After the results I saw and the relative ease encountered, I decided to continue with the rest of my face. I had a couple of leakers at areas of skin folds on my neck, but no incisions.

I then relathered my entire face and went at it again, this time in an approximation of an XTG pass. Once again, I went slow and made sure I maintained a good amount of skin tension. I still got a couple of (new) leakers at skin folds, and made it through without any major blood-letting.

Huge thanks to the vast knowledge of the hive mind here. Also, thanks to Alex (manah) for selling me a great restored vintage razor.

The specifics.....Challenge Cutlery 5/8 hollow ground razor, professionally restored. El cheapo badger-ish brush, face lathering with Kell's unscented shave soap. Post shave conditioning with Everyman Jack mint conditioning balm. I also used a moist hot towel for prep.

Thanks and nice 1911 in your avatar.
Must-haves.....a 1911 and a straight razor. Teddy Roosevelt, John Wayne, Thomas Jefferson, and God would rather you know how to use them both.
