    Default First Shave...Sorta...

I got my new to me razor today and attempted my first shave...
I had good beard prep as I lathered up right after a hot shower...
After reading the Wiki and studying for hours on the information posted here, I was able to successfully shave my right and left side with the grain...
I stayed off the neck area...
    No nicks or cuts...
Finished up with my double edge safety razor...
I took the advise of many on here and purchased a restored vintage shave ready razor...
    The razor preformed flawlessly...
I've got to put my first stropping on it the next time I shave...
Let me tell you that was a very nerve racking experience trying to keep the blade angle shallow to not cut myself...
I don't know if I will ever get comfortable with the blade...
    Perhaps after hours of practice...
Many thanks for all those on this site...
    It is great...

keeping the razor flat against your face as first pass is key..2nd and 3rd passes..slightly more of angle..you will feel the razor better as time goes by

Good job getting your feet errrr your face wet.

That feeling of dread about the razor is really just healthy respect and as you gain experience you will gain confidence and with the confidence comes comfort.

    You done good.

    It just keeps getting better.
    YMMV
    It just keeps getting better

And when you get REALLY comfortable with the blade on your face, that's when you'll cut the crap out of yourself. Confidence is a good thing--------in moderation. The razor senses when you get over-confident and will tell you why that's a bad thing.
