All the cuts? Thought he only had the one.

120? We've only seen 115 so far this year. Today barely got up to 95.
But, the humidity? Don't even go there!

Parker, when you get your sharpening stuff, keep Dad's tools away from them.
(Well, YOU can sharpen tools, but don't let dad, or any visiting uncles!

I'm excited to see what you're doing here. Keep it up!

Cuda/Shooter, I will definitley learn to strop and shave before I even think about honing. Just needed to know how much money I need to save
    Thanks

100's of your dollars or hundreds of your father's dollars? Either way, there's no 'need'. I'd highly recommend a Norton 4/8 and a Shapton 16k, they work beautifully for me.

All the above advice is good, but it seems to me, Parker m'lad, that you're WAY ahead of the game when it comes to manual dexterity as it relates to workmanship. Aged seven using lathe? They STILL scare the excrement out of me and I'm 50!

I'm actually going to go out on a limb and say there's nothing 'wrong' in getting into honing early; I did after about four weeks), and I use a 5kilo door stop to nail nails in the wall to hang up pictures, break every lawnmower I have ever owned, throw printers on the floor to 'fix' them and big note myself for WEEKS if I can hang a cupboard door. Oh, I also recently painted right over top of wallpaper, used Blu Tac to fix holes in walls and painted my floorboards with ceiling white.

The purpose of that long and dismaying list of weirdness is not to serve as a means of communicating to you how much of an idiot I am, but to suggest that if I can hone, then your certainly can!

I may, however, still be an idiot...

+1 to that. I used 800 wet and dry sandpaper wrapped around the Norton to set the bevel on my De Pews. I don't know about other people, but really, unless you're in to buying old razors and doing them up, or hiring yourself as a honemeister, one doesn't set a bevel everyday :-)

As I alluded to Steve, He pictured just the one cut, but in his post it appeared that he thought he might like to cut himself again...

I'm going to say right here and now that I learned to hone before I learned to shave properly with the darn things. I might not have honed very well to start with, but I did hone well enough to get my first decent shave from my razor. I only had the one razor and had had it for some time. Factory edge had been severely dulled after countless attempts at shaving with it, and a couple of swipes on my trusty, rough as guts pocketknife hone. I finally got clued into the wonders and joys of internet and did a bit of research into what was required before I learned I had gone about it all wrong. Got myself a 1k/6k, 3k/8k combo and followed up with a C12k a little later. It's been all I need apart from my home made strop.

P.S You may or may not be an idiot Carl, but you're my kind of idiot mate. I reckon you'd have some of us in stitches...From laughing of course. Not from tripping over your 5 kilo hammer!

He actually got two. What I think happened. NO FREAKING CLUE!!!! He didn't even go over that area more than once. Maybe the current CEO of Gillette sent forced magic to happen so he got two cuts. NO ONE KNOWS!! My dad also took the liberty of showing everyone in my family(Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, ETC.) the video of me shaving..... That was embarrassing.

NOPE! That will be all out of my pocket one way or another. UNLESS,,, my dad gets into the art. Then there may be chance that he will split the costs with me. But yeah, after all of the discussion, I will probably go with a Norton 4/8k within 2 weeks of me getting the hang of everything. (Or when my funds support me. Which ever comes first) Probably a 12 or 16k depending on the price point.

Hahah thanks Carl! At that point, I didn't know any better, and just did what I was told Steven, remember the 30_06 that same year on my trip down to AZ? Just did what I was told WOWOWWOWOWOWO did my shoulder hurt afterward... And no Carl you are not an IDIOT!!!!

    Anyways thanks!!!!

What I did with my chin, as you could tell, should have landed me a nice cut, but, thanks to shooter, he didn't make it SCARRRYYYY sharp, so my chin is safe!

Recommendations: Please share your thoughts, anything will help!!!!

Here it is! Along with some pictures in case you didn't get a very good look at the razor.
