    Default Difficult transition

So I have been shaving with a new dock that I got from srd for about 5 shaves now and I have been doing pretty well. No nicks on my strop, no cuts or weepers. The biggest issue that I'm having is the no pressure and the right angle. I go over parts of my neck and face and I'm having a hard time getting a good shave. Don't get me wrong after a few passes I'm ok my hardest part is that I can't seem to get the neck done without razor burn. I know that this is going to take time and I'm excited to learn. I want to get the best shave that I can. Is it better to shave off with the least amount of hair such as everyday? I know that it should not matter but I'm having issues getting a clean pass.

    Bgood,

I had issues getting a good and clean full face for about the first 3 months, and then after 6 months it improved yet again. Now, just over two and a half years in....it improved yet again.

The neck is also the hardest part for many, including myself. May I suggest that you try and lower your angle on the neck. It's curved in such a way, that if you "think" you're keeping the angle consistent, you're probably making it more obtuse as you lower the blade (north to south). Try that and see how it feels.

The best thing to do, and you may hate this, is to follow the advice in the stickies.....shave your dominant cheek first, until you get a good pass that's also comfortable. Then go to shaving your dominant and non dominant cheek. Then go to cheeks and dominant side neck, etc. etc.

Learning is best managed one variable at a time (in this case, your angle.....as the cheek will be relatively consistent).

    My two cents.

    Bgood,
Just to follow on with Maxi's advice, I found (and still do) that streatching is critical on the neck area, as well as angle and pressure.
It took me a while to not put any pressure on the blade to shave under my neck 'cause the hair grows from my chin towards my ear in this area (a bugger to do WTG)
I find that stretching with my thumb just below my cheekbone and towards my eye rolls the offending area over my jawbone and flattens it out somewhat. The downside is that it closes that eye and I have to use the other one.
Hope this helps and don't forget to hang on and enjoy the ride
