Default straight razor shaving on the weekends

Hi everybody. Just starting out. I have shaved a good 10 times and it's going well. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time during the weekday and so I have been straight razor shaving on the weekends and during the week using a disposable fusion. Is this an okay way to start or am I not truly letting my face get used to the straight razor?

    Welcome,

This is a fine way to start. It might take you a bit longer to build up speed and confidence, but stick with it. Its not unusual to take 30 minutes to shave when you first start.

Your face shouldn't need to get used to a straight razor. If anything, its a lot easier on the skin when done right.

Take your time, learn the technique and the speed will come naturally.

If you can get away with it and your beard does not grow really fast, sneak in a couple of straight razor shaves during the week at night.

as long as your happy with the way things are going then keep it that way. If you are getting good consistent shaves on the weekends, stick with it. the time will come when you can whip through a straight shave in the morning

Thanks for all the posts. I think I'm gonna try and shave a couple times in the evening during the week.

Have you thought of ditching that Fusion and doing your mid week shaves with a DE. A much better option IMHO.

During my weekdays I always shaving at nights, because every morning I get up at 6 am, and go to the squash practice and only after that I have my shower. And on weekends I shave at the morning.
Using your fusion good opinion, because at beginning you damaged your face a lot, have small nicks and razor burns. And while you use fusion your face can heal a little bit.

Why? He is learning how to use a straight, DE shaving has its own learning curve which might complicate things. If you're happy with your Fusion stick with it. Mind you: I am biased because I don't get on with DE blades.
