Default Graduate, BBS, University of Slow Learners

Took 23 months, and I considered myself a beginner until I conquered this feat: a BBS shave with NO NICKS! I have been getting consistent BBS shaves for several months, but none without one drop of blood.

So now I have graduated out of the ranks of the beginners in my opinion. Newbie no more.

I write this as a means of encouraging those of you who might be discouraged after a few months of straight shaving. It is not easy to learn, but it is worth it. You will forever enjoy shaving both during the pursuit of perfection and after the achievement!

Thanks to all of you who coached me along the way!

I'm very pleased for you! Just between you and I, you are doing better than I am - I hardly ever get BBS so I think perhaps you might be at the University of Not-as-slow-as-you-first-thought! Not that I am saying I am the benchmark or anything - just that there are slower people out there than you!

Thanks. From participating in shaving forums I had gotten the idea that there was some sort of timetable in which you were supposed to learn how to straight shave. Without a doubt, it took me longer than I thought it would. I wanted to put that timetable to rest and say that as long as you enjoy the ride it doesn't matter how long or short a time it takes to perfect your technique. I doubt if anyone has ever had a truly perfect shave if someone examined your face with a microscope but it certainly is within everyone's reach to get a superior shave.
