Default First real straight razor shave!

Today was my third attempt at straight razor shaving. The first two attempts were with my dovo shavette and the third attempt (today) was with my new Boker King Cutter. I can honestly say that it was much easier shaving with the King Cutter. The razor feels so much smoother and the weight of it makes the shavette feel like a plastic toy. I did about 15 passes on my strop before shaving and then 25 passes post shave. I need a lot of practice doing it but it will come with time. I still have so much to learn and can't wait until I'm getting smooth, cut free shaves.

Well done, I remember how excited I was when I first shaved with a straight...
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Congratulations. The feeling is nice when the razor is doing all the work, gliding along. Hope you enjoy that Boker! The new (last, sorry) Dovo is sweet; top and bottom jimping!

Glad to hear you had a good experience with a real SR. I had a feeling you'd like it better than your shavette

Anyway, you may want to consider increasing your stropping laps. Most of us do upwards of 50 laps on leather prior to shaving, and if you have a material strop try 30 or 40 laps before the leather.

You'll never go back to shavette. Good choice. Just be patient. You'll be a pro before you know it.
