Default Virgin shave tomorrow...which blade from the sampler pack???

    Hello all,

My first DE shave is tomorrow morning with my newly acquired Merkur 38c. Can I get some recommendations on which blade to choose. I've got the following:

    Merkur Super
    Treet Classic
    Donco Stainless...new Platinum
    Durablade 7 am
    Gillette 7 o'clock
    Trig Silver Edge
    Astra Superior Platinum
Feather (from what I've read I know this isn't a first time blade)

    Thanks in advance,
    Clint

The Gillette 7 o'clock. My favorite blades.

I can only speak for myself, but I started with a 38C with Feather blades. Loved it and never had a problem. Feathers are ultra sharp for sure, but that is what I was looking for!

    Gillette 7 O'clock

Be careful! Virgins are known to bleed.

Personally, I'd start with the Astras because they sharp (but not scary sharp) and smooth. I find them very forgiving. I hate to call them middle-of-the-road (because that suggests they are mediocre, which is not true), but it's probably the best way to describe Astra out of the brands you've listed.

Thanks for the warning...think I'll go really slow and use plenty of lube to keep the bleeding to a minimum.

Astroglide makes a pretty good pre-shave -- or you can put a bit into the lather.

Um, I don't think that is what they make LOL

But seriously, the Gilette blades are a nice docile first time shave blade...the feathers are great, but they are Ninja sharp and IMHO not really for a first timer...

Good luck and enjoy the shave!!
