I'm sorry, I must have fat fingered the whole keyboard. I think I meant to say that the use of just the plain materiel (linen) side before using the leather side would then good be enough? I gather that the paste or strop dressing is not required for normal upkeep. I don't have a paddle strop. I have the typical hang from the door knob type.
