Thread: Best Shave Todate

Hi all you straight shavers out there.
It's been about 6 weeks now and about a dozen shaves now. This morning after a shower and no time pressure I got out the straigt razor ( ford & medley ) with taylor of old bond street sandalwood shave cream. I did a three pass shave. Well having not used the razor in about 4 days due to an early shift I felt a bit rusty, I took my time, 20 mins and was rewarded with a very good close shave the best yet and only a very minor nik. It funny how you can look forward to a shave especially with a razor which initially frightened the life out of me. It's not quite up to my DE standard yet but great fun know that I have tamed the dragon ALMOST !

Congratulations. Yes, I have found that each week or so I can notice how much better I was than the previous week. Sometimes I have major breakthroughs like you had. Sometimes I backslide a little. On the whole, I see progress.

Congrats on your first nice shave. They will keep getting better as you gain experience with your razor. Eventually the DE won't give you as good a shave as the Str8, but in a rush and for traveling, they are nice to have around.
